Norwegian striker Erling Haaland equalled the record of legend Cristiano Ronaldo to be the fastest men’s footballer to 100 goals in European club football, as he achieved this remarkable feat on Sunday with his opening goal against Arsenal.
The City team played against the PL greats Arsenal at their home stadium of Etihad, as Erling Haaland emerged as the first goalscorer of the game. He netted a through ball past David Raya in just the 9th minute of the game.
The viral poster shows Haaland posing as a cricketer raising his bat to acknowledge his century of goals and is being praised by former centurions for the club, including KDB, Aguero, Lee, and Bell.
After the great Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved the unique feat of having scored 100 goals for the Spanish capital side, Real Madrid, while appearing in his 105th match for the club, Haaland equals the great on his 105th appearance for Manchester City.
With this great milestone, Haaland became the 19th player in the history of Manchester City to have scored 100 goals for the club. Teammate and City legendary midfielder Kevin De Bruyne also holds 100+ goals in his career in the Pep’s Den.
Haaland has already scored nine goals in the four-game weeks of this season, alongside his two hat-tricks. Arsenal led for a huge span of the game 2-1 after the initial goal by Haaland, until John Stones scored the equalizer in the ending seconds of injury time.
Haaland is tipped for a record-breaking move to Saudi Arabia
Erling Haaland, the man in red-hot form for Manchester City from last season, takes his form into this season as well. However, recently Petit claimed that the PL winner might reject this humongous offer from the Middle East.
He has been City’s most credible asset since his move to the Premier League club, after his iconic move from the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund 3 seasons back in 2022. His debut led an onset with a historic Golden Boot in both his starred seasons.
However, despite a lucrative offer of nearly 200 million euros, former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit said this move to the Suadi Pro League cannot be anticipated any time soon.
However, he also admitted that one day Haaland would surely be seen in Saudi Arabia, as the greats like Ronaldo and Benzema are already playing their trades in the sensational country.
He also dropped a bombshell, as he commented that Haaland might not have so much of an opportunity to create a huge impact with his national side, so he must find him playing with top-level clubs to settle his career brightly.
“If he considers going to Saudi Arabia, it won’t be down to money. I think his ambition is more than money, and it’s not like he isn’t earning well at City. He wants to break records in every game, and even if Saudi offered £200 million ($267 million), he’d refuse to go unless it’s towards the end of his career when I think he might end up out there.” claimed Petit to TV Kampen.
