Pant made his comeback to cricket in IPL 2024 after a one and half year hiatus after his near fatal car crash in December 2022. He was also part of the World Cup winning squad of Team India in the T20 World Cup 2024. Although, he played all the matches, he did not look to be in good touch with the bat. The flow was missing.

Pant has been a sensational match winner in red ball cricket with his exploits in pressure moments. He has smashed a century in all SENA countries. India did miss him in this format in the last year or so. He will be looking to make his comeback in the Test series against Bangladesh starting from September 19.
