India are facing off against England in the second ODI of the series at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. England won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the highlight of the first innings has been the sensational catch taken by Shubman Gill on the field to dismiss Harry Brook.
Shubman Gill pulled off what can only be described as a miraculous catch to dismiss England’s Harry Brook during the match. It all started with Harshit Rana’s cunning slower delivery; seeing Brook stepping out, he pitched it into the wicket. The ball, with its extra bounce, caught Brook off guard, striking high on his bat and ballooning into the air.
Gill, stationed at mid-off, instantly reacted. With a swift sprint backwards, his gaze locked on the descending ball over his right shoulder, he judged the flight perfectly. In a moment of pure athleticism, Gill launched into a full-length dive, extending both hands to secure the catch with grace. Brook’s attempt to accelerate the scoring rate was thwarted. Gill displayed his excellent fielding and catching skills to pick up a crucial wicket. Brook was dismissed for 31 runs off 52 deliveries. His innings included three boundaries and one six.
England are on the way to a big score in the second ODI
At the time of writing, England are 203/3 in 35.4 overs. They are definitely on the way to a big score unless India continues to pick up wickets at regular intervals. In this game, Varun Chakravarthy, who has been in stunning form in the T20I’s, earned his ODI debut and replaced Kuldeep Yadav. Until now, he has also picked up one wicket. The other wicket has been picked up by Ravindra Jadeja. It remains to be seen what score England finally put up in their 50 overs. They are coming to this game on the back of a loss in the first game in Nagpur.
