One of the wickets taken by Devine was that of Jemimah Rodrigues. The wicket of Rodrigues fell in the 14 over. Devine bowled a short delivery outside the off stump, which Rodrigues wanted to cut. However, she could not connect, got an edge and Isabella Gaze took a sensational reflex catch.
Rodrigues managed to score 17 runs off 28 balls, whose wicket was a crucial wicket for the Kiwis and they could stamp their authority on the game even more.
Indian players sitting in the dugout were shocked and worried with the fall of her wicket. The cameras caught Smriti Mandhana in shocked look. Shafali Verma along with head coach Amol Muzumdar were also disappointed to witness the dismissal of Rodrigues.
Indian Women’s Cricket Team were bowled out for 187 runs
New Zealand scored 259 runs in their 20 overs for the fall of nine wickets. India were bowled out for 187 runs in 47.1 overs and the Kiwis won the match by 76 runs.
Lea Tahuhu, after the game, said: “It just started to skid on a bit and there was variable bounce too, it was about trying to stick on to that on this wicket. The wickets we have played on have been amazing, will look to push on to around 280 in the third game. Always bowled well to lefties, have to thank the wife for that. Felt really good, missed the first game after a big World Cup. It’s been coming out nicely, trying to use a few variations, it’s a good pitch and a few subtle changes in pace.”
