Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj beat Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, to win Team India’s Impact Fielder Of The Series award after India whitewashed Bangladesh 2-0 in the Test series.

India’s fielding coach, T. Dilip, honoured the two of them with the prize in a ceremony that India do in the dressing room after every game.

Dilip talked about the fielding efforts of the Indian fielders who were responsible for changing the course of the game.

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj were the three most standout fielders in the squad. Dilip called the Indian captain as “reliable as a Swiss watch”ย in the slip cordon.

India team displayed initiative in the second Test after just 35 overs were bowled in the first three days of the game with Day 2 and Day 3 being lost due to incessant rain.

India stopped the Bangladeshi batters at a score of 233 on the morning of Day 4 in the first innings. Then the Indian batters came out firing, played their shots and played in T20 style. They scored 285 runs in 34.4 overs and declared their innings.

On the morning of Day 5, India dismissed Bangladesh for 146 runs and got a target of 95 runs to chase. The batters chased down the target in just 17.2 overs and displayed why India are a force to be reckoned with on home soil in Test cricket.

Captain Rohit Sharma expressed that the team is continuously moving forward, acknowledging the need to work with new individuals.

He mentioned that when Rahul Dravid decided to step down, they had a great experience working together, but life moves on, and so does the team.

Sharma shared his familiarity with Gautam Gambhir, having played with him, and praised Gambhir’s mindset, which encourages players to express themselves freely on the field.

Although it’s still early, Sharma noted that the transition under Gambhir has started well, and they are thinking carefully about how to keep progressing in the game.
