Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli was known for his explosive batting, immense potential, and flamboyant personality. He gained fame for his early exploits in cricket, including a world-record 664-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar during a school match. His career started on a high but ended early due to inconsistency and off-field controversies.

Recently, a video went viral in which he was seen having some problems with his speech and was in a disoriented state. In recent years, Vinod Kambli has faced numerous controversies alongside significant personal and health challenges. Despite these struggles, he has received unwavering support from the cricketing fraternity, which continues to acknowledge and appreciate his contributions to the sport.

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar revealed that the members of the 1983 World Cup-winning team have expressed their commitment to coming together to support Vinod Kambli, who has been facing serious health challenges in recent times.

He stated, “The 1983 team is very conscious of the younger players. For me, they are like grandsons. If you see their age, some are like sons. We are all very concerned, particularly when fortunes desert them. I don’t like the word help. What the 83 team wants to do is take care of him. We want to take care of Vinod Kambli and help him get back on his feet. How we will do, we’ll see in future. We want to take care of cricketers who are struggling when fortunes don’t smile on them.”

Kapil Dev, the captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, reached out to Vinod Kambli to discuss his health issues and assured him of his full support. Dev’s gesture highlights the camaraderie and solidarity among former teammates in times of need.

Vinod Kambli made a remarkable start to his international career, scoring two double centuries in his first seven Test matches. However, his international career was plagued by inconsistency and discipline issues, limiting him to just 17 Tests and 104 ODIs. The batter had great potential and flair but was unable to make his mark and sustain a long-lasting career at the international level, largely due to inconsistencies in performance and off-field issues.
