Jasprit Bumrah has been the best bowler across formats in the last few years. He has decimated good batters in all countries irrespective of the format. Bumrah made his impact felt in the first of the five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth. He scalped eight wickets in the Test match and led India to a mammoth 295-runs victory. Aussie batter, Travis Head heaped praise on the India pacer and said that he is going to become one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game by the time he hangs up his boots.
He highlighted the experience of him and the rest of the batters regarding the challenge that they are facing while playing against him in the match. Head also went on to say that he can tell his grandkids that he has faced Bumrah in his playing career.
“Jasprit is probably going to go down as one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game. We’re finding that at the moment, how challenging he can be and it’s nice to play against that. It’s going to be nice to look back at your career and tell the grandkids that you faced him… Hopefully, I only have to face a few more times as he’s been challenging,” Head was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Travis Head wants to stay fresh before playing Jasprit Bumrah yet again
Travis Head wants to keep his mind clear and keep himself mentally fresh while facing Bumrah at the peak of his powers. He feels lucky to have faced Bumrah a few times and also have some success against him. Head wants to be prepared and play his best while facing him yet again in the next Test match.
“I’m best when I look for the cues, when I’m just preparing to watch the ball hard and staying fresh mentally. I think I’m lucky that I’ve faced him a few times and come across him a fair bit. So I just go back over recent times, and times I’ve faced him. We’ve been very fortunate to have played against him a lot so I know what’s coming, it’s just making sure I’m prepared and fresh to start well,” he added.
Meanwhile, Australia and India will face off against each other in the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval, which will be a Day/Night Test match with the Pink ball. India played against the Prime Minister’s XI with the pink ball in a practice game and came up on the winning side. Rohit Sharma is back and is set to feature in the second Test after missing the first due to the birth of his baby boy. Shubman Gill will also feature in the game after missing the first Test match due to a fractured thumb.
