Right-arm medium fast bowler Himanshu Sangwan is a 29-year-old cricketer, who was born on September 2, 1995, in Delhi, India. He is an Indian cricketer, who has made a name for himself in domestic cricket with his impressive bowling. The Delhi-born cricketer represents the Railways team in domestic cricket.
Sangwan made his List A debut on September 27, 2019, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, followed by his T20 debut on November 8, 2019, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His first-class debut came shortly after, on December 9, 2019, in the Ranji Trophy, where he showcased his ability to swing the ball effectively.
Before making his mark in cricket, Sangwan was employed as a ticket collector in Delhi, balancing his job while chasing his cricketing dreams. He credits Australian fast-bowling legend Glenn McGrath for refining his bowling skills, particularly in seam positioning and consistency. In recent times, he has been an outstanding performer for the team. In January 2025, he delivered a 4-wicket haul (4/59) against Assam, proving his ability to perform under pressure.
As of now, Himanshu Sangwan has played a total of 23 first-class matches, 17 List-A matches, and 7 T20s and has taken 77, 21, and 5 wickets, respectively.
Sangwan’s story is an inspiration—a hardworking cricketer who rose from a humble background to dismissing top-tier Indian batsmen. If he continues his upward trajectory, he could soon be knocking on the doors of IPL teams or even the national squad.
During the Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Himanshu Sangwan grabbed headlines as he bowled star batter Virat Kohli for just 6 runs, sending his off-stump cartwheeling. He also took the wicket of set batter Sanat Sangwan, who was batting for 30 runs out of 81 balls.
The pace bowler celebrated the wicket aggressively, pumping his fists in the air, letting out a loud roar, and sprinting towards his teammates, who rushed in to congratulate him. This moment shocked and stunned the fans of Virat Kohli present at the venue.
