Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, always hogs the headlines with his statements in the media, which are straightforward and also controversial. On many occasions, he has blatantly taken a dig at former Indian captain MS Dhoni with harsh words for ruining the career of Yuvi.
Yograj Singh also runs a cricket academy in Chandigarh, where he trains young cricketers. Ahead of the start of the Ranji Trophy in 2022, Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar was sent by his father and Yuvraj to Yograj Singh’s academy to train under him.
After an intense 12-day training stint with him, Arjun made a remarkable debut for Goa, smashing a century in his first-class match, which earned him a coveted contract in the renowned Indian Premier League (IPL). After his initial success, Arjun decided to not continue training under Yograj. In a recent interview, Yograj Singh broke his silence on the matter.
“Sachin’s son. He comes here for 12 days and scores a hundred. When he scored a hundred on debut and the returned to IPL, people feared that his (Arjun) name will stick with him (Yograj). Are you understanding my point? People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that,” Yograj said on ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’.
Arjun has carved a distinct path in cricket, playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL and representing Goa in domestic cricket. His IPL debut came in 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he notably took his first IPL wicket.
Arjun has featured in five IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians, claiming three wickets. At 25, he was retained by the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 mega auction, with a base price set at Rs 30 lakh. He also recently represented Goa in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
